Mama cat gives birth to two kittens outside a random stranger's window in Sri Lanka, and five years later they're strangers no more, as they all live happily together since that day.

We love a happy ending, especially if the fairytale is feline.

There's something special about every pet being adopted into a loving home, but our hearts belong to cats. They always have. And we're not the only ones. The internet is filled with places for cat lovers to bask in the joy of cat adoptions, like the r/CatDistributionSystem community, where we constantly read about wholesome adoption stories such as this one.

Usually, people find a lone stray cat roaming the streets, or a kitten abandoned in an unlikely place - but it's a rare occasion where a person cares for more than one cat, and then takes them in to adopt them all for good. But apparently, the Cat Distribution System in Sri Lanka works extra hard to get these multi-cat adoptions going strong. This isn't one cat or a single kitten, but a mama cat who gave birth to two purrfect babies, who got adopted by the person who took care of her during her birth.

As we've said, we love a happy ending. Knowing that another cat is not in their forever home is always a heartwarming thing. But that's not just a happy ending, and not even a triple happy ending to all three cats - it's a far better piece of information, with hindsight of five years. It's knowing that these cats are truly living happily ever after, in a feline-loving home, where they have their humans and each other.

  • Looking at how extremely tiny these two fluffheads are, it's hard to imagine them not receiving all the help they'd need. Them and their mama cat. Another reason why this whole situation makes us happy is that we know cats in need got the help they searched for - first, the mother cat who searched for a safe and comfortable place to give birth, and second, the kittens are only wanted the safety of their mother and didn't get separated from her.

  • This picture is pure purrfection. When cats are so close to each other physically, it indicated their bonded, friendly, and relaxed in each other's company. And that's always a happy sight to witness with cats who are actually family.

    Fortunately she did and the next day we brought everyone inside. Luna considered leaving when they were about 6 months but decided the food and cuddles were worth hanging around for.
